PLACE identity Series
LOT 8
Land Acknowledgement @ Time of Custodian
‘In the spirit of reconciliation the PLACE identity Series acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. I pay my respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.’
Place Statement @ Time of Conception
Is a contemporary visual approach to digitally photographing and montaging the landscape to express the psychological space within a designated place of identity. I continually aim to acknowledge and understand the land we are upon and my personal response of the stimuli that surrounds me with each step taken.
Personal Narrative @ Time of Capture
Finding a course of action, in due course…
Depending on the urgency to how we learn to understand and navigate through the many stories that we enter or collect, we can find at times that this can leave us in many stages of emotions. These stories that we have entered or collected are not necessarily our story to own or repeat; they may be only passing by. Discovering your course to your individual story and owning it can be the most wonderful start to the adventure ahead and with this we are able then to collaborate freely with others and share our individual course from time to time.
Visual Information @ Time of Creation
The contemporary artwork is a layered narrative reflecting Main Beach natural environment. Main Beach is situated in Southport, the northern end of the Gold Coast, South East Queensland, Australia. On 30th November 2014 I swam in the Pacific Ocean and walked the beach continually photographing my response to nature’s language. In May 2015 post production commenced and three digital montages became Lot 8 in the PLACE identity Series, making sense of the rhythm of the tide ebb and flowing.
