PLACE identity Series
LOT 34
Land Acknowledgement @ Time of Custodian
‘In the spirit of reconciliation the PLACE identity Series acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. I pay my respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.’
Place Statement @ Time of Conception
Is a contemporary visual approach to digitally photographing and montaging the landscape to express the psychological space within a designated place of identity. I continually aim to acknowledge and understand the land we are upon and my personal response of the stimuli that surrounds me with each step taken.
Personal Narrative @ Time of Capture
One day it was and the next it wasn’t…
Unforeseen moments can lead to new discoveries when the system is gone and replaced with new. Wandering aimlessly for a moment to replenish the nomadic facet of my soul I ended up in territory I hadn’t visited before. A piece of earth that was slowly being habited. The vibration felt very wrong and strange. The creek maintained a natural beauty that manmade rules couldn’t compete with.
Visual Information @ Time of Creation
The contemporary artwork is a layered narrative reflecting Bells Creek natural and manmade environment. Bells Creek is situated in the Sunshine Coast Region, Queensland, Australia. On Sunday 16th September 2018 I was continually photographing my response to the beauty that surrounded me. In December 2020 post production commenced and two digital montages became Lot 34 in the PLACE identity Series, contemplating the future path ahead.
Found Quote @ Time of Completion
Abraham Lincoln once said, “In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.”
