PLACE identity Series
LOT 32
Land Acknowledgement @ Time of Custodian
‘In the spirit of reconciliation the PLACE identity Series acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. I pay my respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.’
Place Statement @ Time of Conception
Is a contemporary visual approach to digitally photographing and montaging the landscape to express the psychological space within a designated place of identity. I continually aim to acknowledge and understand the land we are upon and my personal response of the stimuli that surrounds me with each step taken.
Personal Narrative @ Time of Capture
Incredible territory…
In love with a location and now my traces have been documented. The heart appeared, tingles went through my soul with sheer joy, pure white shining the light for my future transformation. The waning flower still held its great beauty on the canvas of the sand, aesthetic artistry to the oceanscape. The fish that no longer swims, yet a ceremonial departure was enacting and breaking down and leaving a memory with thought.
Visual Information @ Time of Creation
The contemporary artwork is a layered narrative reflecting Mindil Beach natural environment. Mindil Beach in Fannie Bay is situated in the suburb The Gardens near Darwin’s city centre, Northern Territory, Australia. On 26th February 2018 I had the opportunity to spend the morning in awe, continually photographing my response to nature’s language. In October 2019 post production commenced and three digital montages became Lot 32 in the PLACE identity Series, leaving traces of my discoveries.
Found Quote @ Time of Completion
Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.”
