PLACE identity Series
LOT 31

Land Acknowledgement @ Time of Custodian

‘In the spirit of reconciliation the PLACE identity Series acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. I pay my respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.’

Place Statement @ Time of Conception

Is a contemporary visual approach to digitally photographing and montaging the landscape to express the psychological space within a designated place of identity. I continually aim to acknowledge and understand the land we are upon and my personal response of the stimuli that surrounds me with each step taken.

Personal Narrative @ Time of Capture

Triggered; now resolved…

How could a visual display of a meal sign still send me packing inside with a feeling of; oh no, here we go again! . Strong I am and yet there is residue of weakness. How many times I have entered these debilitating feelings of empty self-worth and how many times I came out different as I knew I just survived another round of my lessons to the school of life; I have turned the corner and the trigger now resides with the last wonderful meal I ate at the pub.

Visual Information @ Time of Creation

The contemporary artwork is a layered narrative reflecting North Gregory Hotel. The North Gregory Hotel is situated in Eldersile Street Winton, Queensland, Australia. On 24th February 2018 I had the opportunity to greet the town as the morning woke up, continually photographing my response to Eldersile Street’s language. In July 2019 post production commenced and one digital montage became Lot 31 in the PLACE identity Series, releasing and replenishing my soul.
