PLACE identity Series
LOT 29

Land Acknowledgement @ Time of Custodian

In the spirit of reconciliation the PLACE identity Series acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of land and sea throughout Australia and their connections to the land and sea.

Place Statement @ Time of Conception

Is a contemporary visual approach to digitally photographing and montaging the landscape to express the psychological space within a designated place of identity. I continually aim to acknowledge and understand the land we are upon and my personal response of the stimuli that surrounds me with each step taken.

Personal Narrative @ Time of Capture

Checkered story, it once was…

Deep conversation with the ocean has been very soothing enabling the soul to becoming full of strength and power to regain consciousness. Being happy now or as happy as I allow myself to be or can be. Step by step I remind myself that it is always a question why do I allow myself to sink. I must remember I am my only rock stationed within the ever changing swirling motion of this existing life. Some days you just can’t shake the dreaded feeling you wake with. Animal energy ‘mmm’ some animals are stronger than others though for me trying to understand the pattern behaviour collected, remember a note to self, don’t get caught in the rip.

Tired, worn and depleted, yet the morning swell gives rejuvenation.

Visual Information @ Time of Creation

The contemporary artwork is a layered narrative reflecting Dee-Why’s natural and man-made environment. Dee-Why Beach is a coastal suburb situated in North Sydney, part of the Northern Beaches Council, New South Wales, Australia. On 11th February 2018 I had the opportunity to spend the morning walking along the built paths and the shoreline, continually photographing my response to built facades and nature’s language. In March 2019 post production commenced and two digital montages became Lot 29 in the PLACE identity Series, understanding the confusion I am feeling.
