PLACE identity Series
LOT 28

Land Acknowledgement @ Time of Custodian

‘In the spirit of reconciliation the PLACE identity Series acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. I pay my respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.’

Place Statement @ Time of Conception

Is a contemporary visual approach to digitally photographing and montaging the landscape to express the psychological space within a designated place of identity. I continually aim to acknowledge and understand the land we are upon and my personal response of the stimuli that surrounds me with each step taken.

Personal Narrative @ Time of Capture

The creamy diffused light…

A spiritual moment I received as the earth was vibrating through my feet with intense rhythms. Never been there before and yet I felt I had. Like peering through a window with the curtain pulled back. The land had called me back to a time unknown and yet the energy force was far greater than I. The ocean sang its tune and the crisp air chilled my bones.

Visual Information @ Time of Creation

The contemporary artwork is a layered narrative reflecting Bermagui’s natural and manmade environment. Bermagui is a town situated on the south coast in the Bega Valley Shire, New South Wales, Australia. On 10th February 2018 I had the opportunity to visit this town, continually photographing my response to nature and the manmade language. In March 2019 postproduction commenced and two digital montages became Lot 28 in the PLACE identity Series, undergoing new revelations between blurred and hard lines.

Found Quote @ Time of Completion

Carl Jung once wrote, ‘By it I mean the psychological process that makes of a human being an “individual” – a unique, individual unit.’
