PLACE identity Series
LOT 21
Land Acknowledgement @ Time of Custodian
‘In the spirit of reconciliation the PLACE identity Series acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. I pay my respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.’
Place Statement @ Time of Conception
Is a contemporary visual approach to digitally photographing and montaging the landscape to express the psychological space within a designated place of identity. I continually aim to acknowledge and understand the land we are upon and my personal response of the stimuli that surrounds me with each step taken.
Personal Narrative @ Time of Capture
New surroundings unravel…
Arrival was a marvelous discovery of a location unknown to me which provided an abundance of land and ocean still with minimal traffic; being a glorious surprise. An inner emotional place/space within me felt the anxiety arise on various moments and I knew I must set free the fears of knowing the past and begin living the now. Soaking in the ambience of my surroundings gave me new guidance of hope within my soul.
Visual Information @ Time of Creation
The contemporary artwork is a layered narrative reflecting Stanage Bay’s natural and manmade environment. Stanage Bay is a stretch of coastline in Central Queensland, Australia. On Monday 25th March 2016 I arrived in the morning to greet the ocean and camp was set up for four days over the Easter weekend. I continually photographed my response to nature and manmade language that was on my path. In November 2017 post production commenced and three digital montages became Lot 21 in the PLACE identity Series, unravelling my past emotions to prepare my future.
